Robert P. Pietsch, age 89, of Venice, Florida passed away on March 5, 2020 in the presence of family. Bob, as he was affectionately known, was born on November 20, 1930 in Detroit, Michigan. He graduated from Edwin Denby High School and then became a certified medical technician with the US Army where he served overseas during the Korean War. After returning stateside, he attended and graduated from Michigan State University. While at MSU he was a member of the Delta Sigma Pi business fraternity. As a salesman, he spent most of his career with Pfizer Labs.
Bob married his grade school and high school sweetheart Suzanne (Sue), who preceded him in death after 48 years of marriage. Together they raised two boys; in Bloomfield Hills, Michigan before retiring to Venice Florida.
Bob was an active member of Christ Church Cranbrook in Bloomfield Hills, Michigan, where he was on the Vestry, a Lay Reader and Eucharistic Minister. He was also active with St. Mark’s Episcopal Church in Venice, Florida. An avid boater, he spent much of his time on the water, either Lake Erie in the summer or the Gulf intercostal in the winter. He and Sue were active with the Venice Yacht Club for many years.
Bob was preceded in death by his parents, his brother and his wife. He is survived by two sons, their wives, and five grandsons.
A memorial service will be held at St. Mark’s Episcopal Church in Venice, Florida later this spring. Interment will be held in the church memorial gardens where he will join his late wife, Sue.
