Rector’s Message Concerning the Covid-19 Pandemic

Dear Parish Family,

Circumstances are changing hour by hour with regard to the COVID-19 situation.  Please keep up to date with state and federal guidelines during this challenging time.

St. Mark’s Worship Services and all activities are canceled until further notice.  There will be no weekday activities and the church campus will be closed (for example, Bible Study, any meetings, rehearsals, dinners, youth group, etc.).    While the church office is closed, we will be checking and responding to email and voicemail messages.

As you stay home, please know that you are in our prayers, and that we look forward to the time when we can reunite as a community.  The Sunday service bulletin and worship service is available on our website.  As you read, watch, listen,  and pray from home, I hope you will feel a sense of connectedness with all of us at St. Mark’s, as well with the wider community.

Please let us know how you are doing, and keep in touch with us and one another as you can.  We will continue to evaluate the situation, and will keep you updated on next steps or other changes.

So look out for your neighbors, look out for each other. Look out for yourselves.  Listen to those who have knowledge that can help to guide us medically and help to guide us socially. Do everything that we can to do this together, to respond to each other’s needs and to respond to our own needs.” ~ Bishop Michael Curry

Peace,

We Are St. Mark’s!

Welcome to beautiful Venice, Florida
and St. Mark’s Episcopal Church!

Dear Sisters and Brothers in Christ,

If you are new to Venice, are a long-time resident or just visiting, I invite you to worship with us at St. Mark’s. We are the oldest church on the Island of Venice (established in 1936) and one of three Episcopal churches in the area. We celebrate Holy Communion at all regularly scheduled services and invite all of God’s children to partake of God’s gift of grace.

Our church is open to all who choose to worship with us. We invite everyone, member or visitor, to partake in the mission work that we support and also in the activities that we offer. We like to think we have something for everyone. As you peruse the pages of our website you will see just how extensive our mission and ministries are and the work we do to God’s glory in God’s kingdom.

Clergy are available for pastoral counseling or just to chat about life at St. Mark’s or the Episcopal Church in general. The office staff is cordial and can help with most basic requests or can schedule an appointment with clergy. Give them a call at 941.488.7714.

I hope to see you in church and personally invite you to join in all that St. Mark’s has to offer. When you visit, please take a moment to fill out one of the Visitor’s Cards found in the pew rack. Drop it in the offering plate and either Rev. Maggie Sullivan or I will get in touch with you to answer any questions you might have and to welcome you to St. Mark’s.

Hope to see you Sunday!

The Rev. Robert Cowperthwaite
